Moments | Slow Sunday

Some photos from our slow Sunday. Layered up and went down to the seaside. Always nice to get some fresh sea air into the lungs and we find that it puts the kids sound asleep in the evening :)

Aviator Nation | Brand Watch

PhotobucketSome call it vintage some call it retro, no matter what you decide to call it, it is undoubtedly cool! Aviator Nation has previously only been available in the big sizes but now the soft, vintage designed threads are also available for the young. Paige Mycoskie, creator of Aviator Nation, has spent years collecting her own vintage t’s.  She has never been into buying the reproductions of rocker t’s and other vintage reproductions because in her opinion the new ones don’t look or feel anything like a true vintage piece.  Paige’s obsession with authentic vintage t-shirts, specifically “vintage sports t-shirts” has inspired Aviator Nation. Right now these items are available at Nonchalant Mom. images: Nonchalant Mom

Moments | Weekend details

A few snaps of the little peeps from today's hit and run on the playground. We did a quick stop at one of the biggest shopping centers in Melbourne, Chadstone to get some things, but it was such a relief to get out of there and let these two run around without a billion people..haha. I hope you are enjoying your weekend as well.

Finally Friday again! This week was a bit strange with a public holiday in the middle, so even though we got a day off it felt like a short weekend instead. The little boy had some stomach bug this week so we had some off days, but today we got some nice weather so we took the chance to get out and get some fresh air. Hoping the nice weather will stay for the weekend! Hopefully it will be the same in your part of the world as well.

Shampoodle | Brand Watch

Photobucket
There is no question there is a lot of summer squeezed into the spring/summer collection 12 from Swedish Shampoodle. The brand which was established in 2006, and has always stood out with creating different and interesting clothes for kids. Their iconic tracksuits have paved the way for a big Shampoodle love out there (we own 3 ourselves!) and their collections seem to only grow bigger and better. Here are a few of my favorite picks from the current collection. You can also download the winter 12 collection here to see what you got to look forward to after the summers warm winds have gone...

Brrrrrr!

Ughf! It doesn't take much to make this country go into winter mode. A couple of days of rain and wind and I am back to remembering why I am not a fan of Australian winter. No central heating, no insulation in the walls and windows and doors with gaps underneath. Brrrrrr. I am hoping it is only a couple of days of coldness and that we are back to some prolonged Autumn warmth again next week. Adding a random doodle by me, that some how represent how I feel at the moment.

Bring it ON!

The rain that is! It is GUMBOOT weather in Melbourne and I am sure most of Australia right now. For the last two days we have been drenched with what seems tons of water and grey clouds. The temperature has dropped to an uncomfortable 13c and an extra layer of clothes have been a necessity. Now guess if we were happy when a box was waiting for us today. A brand new set of Bergstein gumboots from Minibots.. ready to have fun in. M was so excited to hear this when I picked her up from school that I had to put an extra gear in to get home fast enough. She loved her new yellow gumboots and ran out to try them straight away. Two thumbs up from M was the verdict and they stood the test of many puddle jumps. She loved that they were light to wear and she especially liked the little reflective stripe on the back.
We can definitely recommend these if anybody is on the lookout for some new "puddle shoes" :)

Sometimes, deciphering a child's need is the hardest thing there is. Here's the scenario. It is still dark outside, it is night time and our 2 year old has woken up for the 4th time. This time I stumble into their bedroom and this time instead of just being cold (why keep that duvet cover on, it might just keep me warm is this 2 year old's thinking on most nights) he points at his tummy going..."Awweeii beeelly". Just when those words have come out, he starts to look like his is going to throw up all over his bed. Ahhhh... alert alert...get kid out of bed onto floorboards or something that won't take all night to clean up. I hurl the kid out of bed and run to get something we can catch it in. My dazed and confused 2 year old looks at me with a big plastic bowl in his hands. Clearly this kid has never thrown up before. I try to explain to him that it is good in case he feels sick. He gets that look again and I brace myself for a full gastro galore exhibit... but instead I get a ginormous burp! My 2 year old instantly starts to laugh out loud, and so do I, because I probably jumped 4 feet into the air. - mama, Dante buuurp! He proudly exclaimed.

All this is quite a lot to take in the middle of the night and add that suddenly it has gotten really cold in Melbourne lately we are both standing in the kitchen, in the dark, shivering and laughing. Suddenly he pops the plastic bowl on his head, saying - mama...hat! Yep.. now it is a hat. I ask him if his belly is OK now, he goes... yes! I ask him if he is sure... he goes No!...Is it still hurting then? Yes! Oh dear.. how do you know what 2 year old's means? I ask him a random question. How is your foot? Awweeeii!... Yep.. with that I put him back to bed and we manage to get some few minutes of sleep more before the alarm goes off. The bliss of understanding children :)

Little Red Hood

This modern take on the Russian babushka dolls is great! Designed by Pistacchi Design it is also a food container set as well. With various sizes of bowls and dishes, the user can use them for cookies or fruit, and avoid bugs when the cap is on. Brilliant!

Evan Rossell + Mini & Maximus

There is always something really fresh and exciting when a clothing company decides to incorporate artists in their collections. There is something so simple yet amazing about being able to wear a piece of art and I think the collaboration between Evan Rossell (Stink) and Mini & Maximus is one of the coolest ones I have come across in a long time! Evan Rossell's art is an eclectic mix of sharp teeth monsters, furry creatures and a whole lot of street cool characters all mixed up in some amazing colour combinations. Combined with M&M's super comfy tees it is a match made to love. I hear more collaborations with this artists are coming up so stay tuned to some more interesting results soon! Until then, check out Evan Rossell's awesome blog Hairy Fools for a good bucket load of inspiration! You can also check out this neat video Hairy Days made by Austin Green featuring Evan.

Moments | Sunny Saturday

Just a few snaps from today's lazy Saturday. Managed to get ourselves a tiny sleep in, but of course it ended in both kids in our bed having a full on pillow fight. Gaah, nothing that gets you out of bed quicker than a heavy toddler stomping on your head. After a rather massive breakfast we ran it off on a great wooden playground in our area. We then drove down to a favorite hang out which have a pizzeria restaurant attached to a fenced in playground. A win win situation for both parents and kids :) Hope you are enjoying your weekend out there!

Look Book Gallore

Photobucket

Photobucket
Yep, those Amsterdam people know a thing a two about doing nice collection look books, especially the creative brand Scotch & Soda who's mini version labels Scotch & Shrunk (boys) and Scotch R' Belle (girls). I love their photo session and they always seem to find the coolest little models around to give some spirit to their detailed clothes. Soon you will be able to shop boys and girls collection from their own webshop, but until then you can find a pretty nice selection over at Oii barnkläder.

Moments | Drip Drop

We have been spoiled with wonderful sunny weather all week so it was no surprise when we woke up around 7 am with the sound of rumbling thunder and rain drops against the windows. The rain has to come sometime and it just happened to be today. I rugged up D with an extra layer and on went the gumboots. It was a new record. 5 min and then soaking wet pants! The giggles that came out of him made it all worth it though. I think one of his first words were actually splash, so I know this little guy loves it. I can't believe how beautiful the trees are getting. It is an firework of yellow, red and orange and the occasional green. I hope you all will have a lovely weekend and get to enjoy some nice weather, what ever it might be...

KIDS CASE | Brand Watch

Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
I have very nostalgic memories of this label. First time I came across it was a rainy day in Copenhagen, Denmark and I ran into this lovely children's shop called Englebørn to get away from the rain (I know..how good is it not to spend a 30 minutes in a kids shop blaming it on the rain!) I loved this shop. There were so many nice little labels with colourful clothes and the atmosphere in there was the best. One of the labels I found was of course Kids Case. The quality struck me as amazing and the colour schemes were so gorgeous. I saw a jumpsuit in red and white and one in petrol and grey. I had such a hard time choosing which one to get for my then 5 month old girl (finally picked the red and white). But ever since then I have loved this label for its lovely knits and great designs and cuts. There seem to be something special in each collection that makes me want to buy for all three categories, boys, girls and babies!

Kids Case was founded in 2000 in Amsterdam, The Neatherlands as a small independent company by designer Jacqueline van Nieuwkerk and marketer Merel Verbrugge. Their intention was to design collections that fitted the lifestyle of individualistic and modern parents and their children. Right from the launch their first collection in 2001 became a big success. Today Kids Case are available all over the world, from Amsterdam to London, from Tokyo to New York.

Moments | Thursdays with Mr.D

Gosh, I simply love Thursdays! Before when I thought of Thursdays they were sort of a nothing day with it's only upside it was one day closer to weekend. But these days I am totally loving them. It is the first day I got my little man home from childcare and we are loving the slack days we can just hang out and play together. We love the beach and today was such a magical day. When we got down to the water it was like a big mirror. Totally calm with a bit of a mist on top of it and several black swans floating peacefully. No wind just an overall calm that was amazing. Here are some photos from our day...
